Emma Birch is a Urology Nurse Consultant in Cancer Surgery, who specialises in providing care for men and their families before and after robotic-assisted prostatectomy. Emma initially trained in New Zealand has also worked in Singapore, Brisbane and Melbourne.
Emma has vast surgical experience with the addition of many years at the Australian Catholic University as an educator and coordinator. She has been recognised nationally for her many achievements including runner up for APNA Australian Nurse of the Year and being the recipient of the Victorian Travelling Fellowship which enabled her to visit international centres of excellence to further enhance her multi-disciplinary approach to care for men with prostate cancer.
For the past 15 years she has delivered care in the many areas of urology, focusing on men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer. She has published her research work ‘Robocare’ streamlining care involving optimizing sexual function post robotic surgery and has presented this internationally in Europe, Asia and Amercia.
Emma has always been a member of the care team at Cancer Specialists with Prof Declan Murphy and continues with her public appointment as a nurse consultant with urology and sexual health at The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
