Dr Diarmuid O’Malley is an Irish trained surgeon with specialist interest in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer and benign breast disease, as well as breast cancer risk management. He has over 15 years sub-specialist experience including his Fellowship in Breast Oncology at the Royal Melbourne and the Royal Women’s Hospitals.
Dr O’Malley takes a gentle, kind, clear and informative approach to help guide his patients through this often-challenging experience. Diarmuid’s contemporary practice includes oncoplastic surgical techniques to enhance cosmetic results and tailored individual treatment for his patients within a multidisciplinary team for optimal cancer outcomes. Breast reconstruction is performed for his patients by fully accredited plastic and reconstructive surgical colleagues.
Diarmuid is a consultant surgeon at the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Parkville. He also consults at Northwest Breast Screen assessment clinics in Royal Park (Royal Melbourne Hospital). He is actively involved in recruiting breast cancer patients to clinical trials and is an advocate of treatment de-escalation and tailored risk adjusted screening.
